v0.7.0 — JP Patches audio routing—now under settings icon
Audio routing has been a challenge since I started writing this app. In short: there are two audio paths. The in-app sounds (sequencer editor, PG-200 button clicks, and the tape dump sounds) are best heard through your Mac speakers. But you also have to route the sound of the actual data going between your JX-3P and JP Patches.
JP Patches now has a settings icon in the upper right that allows you to set the path for in-app audio (most likely your built-in Mac speakers) and tape dump routing (either the cable I recommend, or your audio interface). I also created a warning that tells you if you’re about to blast your ears with the tape dump (which is loud AF).
This may sound boring, but it’s a huge fix for the app. You can have your JX-3P connected with a USB cable (dumping data back and forth) while simultaneously hearing the in-app sounds of JP Patches.
Harmony!
Install
Auto-update from v0.6.5 should bring this up automatically — on launch JP Patches checks GitHub, downloads in the background, and prompts to restart when ready.
If you’re installing fresh, download the DMG below, open it, and drag JP Patches to your Applications folder. Signed and notarized by Apple — no security warnings.
System requirement: macOS 12+ on Apple Silicon (arm64). Intel Macs not currently supported.
